House of Refuge Ministries, Inc. is a Christ-centered, not-for-profit organization focused on bringing healing to families broken by all forms (physical, emotional, psychological, religious, sexual, etc.) of abuse. The organization seeks to re-establish families broken by abuse whenever possible. Relationships of violence and abuse are the secret killer of thousands of families throughout the world. The abuser, the victim and the children are all hurting and suffering from experiences in their lives. The violence feeds off of those sufferings and knows no economic, social or ethnic boundaries.
House of Refuge Ministries was founded by a vision from God which originated in 1994 and came to fruition in 2001. The organization began building the foundation necessary to serve families broken by abuse when it was incorporated in December of 2001. House of Refuge Ministries began to deliver services by offering support groups, called Refuge Groups, for abused women in 2003. Churches and other community organizations began to increase their awareness of domestic abuse through the Tearing Down the Walls workshop made available in 2003 as well. In 2005 the House of Refuge Ministries touched the lives of over 612 men, women, and children through our various services and increased in 2006 to 664. The organizations growth is supported by dedicated volunteers with a heart and passion to serve others.
House of Refuge Ministries expanded services in July 2006 when the Women’s’ Refuge Center, a resource and empowerment center for women in abuse was established. The center offered the full range of services provided by the House of Refuge Ministries and served as the administrative office as well. Women’s Refuge Center, was located in St. Peters, Missouri, and provided a loving place of refuge where women could receive resources to heal and be empowered from life abusive experiences until its close in January 2012.
In March 2014 House of Refuge Ministries relocated to St Charles, Missouri and established the Prayer & Worship Center. The location currently serves as the ministry offices where supportive services are delivered to individuals broken by abuse, as well as provides a place for Christian worship services, Bible Study Cell Groups and corporate prayer. Additionally, a professional licensed counselor was added to the staff expanding services to clients and certified Biblical Counseling was added to the list of services, as well.
In April 2015 House of Refuge Ministries established itself as a registered not for profit in the state of Texas. OUR FOUNDATION – PSALM 91
The House of Refuge Ministries was birthed out of Gods’ holy word; therefore we believe this ministry belongs to God. We strive to do everything with excellence that represents our Lord, Jesus Christ. The scripture the ministry was founded on is…………
Psalm 91 (NKJV):
1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. 14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
