People in general are relational. Seeking to be in the company of others in groups of two or more is as natural as breathing air for the most of us. Then there is also the common desire for companionship with that one special individual. I’ve so desired the companionship of the “right man” for some time. To be more specific, sometime has translated into “what seems like forever”. By the grace of our loving God, I am coming to understand his time frame is nothing like ours and it is best.
I have certainly not always felt this way. Visually, I could be described as one holding a sign saying, “husband or bust” on the side of a road. Thank God that’s never happened. Sometimes, I truly felt it did; Some days more than others.
Consider the following scriptures. Allow the Lord to minister to your spirit as you read aloud. Allow the words to pour over what season you find yourself in right now; this hour, this day, this week.
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” (Eccls. 3:1)
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you.” (Matt. 6:33)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Psalm 103:11)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jer. 29:11)
“Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”(Psalm 37:4)
It’s very evident that God’s word has permeated my spirit on this issue since a much less patient time.I have had many struggles before settling into a new-found confidence in him regarding companionship.
Here’s a preview of next week’s publication. I’ll share a personal story of where I sought to do things in my own timing and not immediately heed to the holy spirit. Imagine that. We have all done this at some time or another, I’m sure. Nevertheless, let us seek to walk and grow together in the spirit allowing God’s leading to be our only navigation. Our God is faithful. While there are traps set and traps we walk into sometimes by our own desires, the Lord will make a way of escape for us. God is long suffering. He loves us. He desires to prosper us as mentioned above from the book of Jeremiah, and he’s committed! The following scripture speaks to this. The thought of this promise sends chills up and down my spine:
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6)
If you’ve read the above scripture and your heart is turned or turning toward God, you can expect him to carry you through to a grand finish in him. Amen.
Next week’s peek: Are we taking heed to God’s leading or reasoning only within ourselves from our limited view?
There was a time I decided I’d put myself in the field to be seen, so to speak, as in the story of Ruth and Boaz. (Book of Ruth) As a side, but important note, I believe many of us get the truth of this story all wrong. For starters, it wasn’t Ruth’s plan to end up as she did–married to Boaz. It was rather the providence of God.
Unlike Ruth, I had my own intentions going on a “Christian” dating site. I was going to put myself in front of my Boaz in the “cyber” field. I decided to help God out. He was after all, taking forever. Obviously, he needed my help, so I thought. This was surely a wrong attitude, wrong mindset, wrong spirit, wrong heart- Just wrong. But, how many of us do this? How often are we moved by what see? Though limited our vision is in comparison to our father’s, we think we know best. Even when we have good intentions to “help” God as did our sister Sarah and brother Abraham did in Genesis 16:2, it is not the same as trusting God by a long shot.
Father help us to trust you. Help us to know that it is faith that pleases you, Amen.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Heb.11:6)
Look for the continuation of this story in the next publication.
Until then, be blessed.

Pearl-Like Tips on Studying, Meditating on, and Applying God’s Word:
Go back over the scriptures shared and read aloud.
God’s word is sharper than any two-edged sword. It cuts through the matters of our hearts and any atmosphere. Reading aloud can add a blessing to you as it also speaks to your surroundings, while transforming your heart and mind. Receive the power and blessing of God’s word applied in your life.
“ For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.(Heb. 4:12)
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”(Rom.12:2)
